Environmental health officials have launched an investigation into a food vendor at Truck Festival in Steventon after several attendees reported severe stomach illnesses.
The suspected source is a Yorkshire pudding stall, which was shut down and removed within 90 minutes of the first reports.
The four-day festival drew a record 27,500 attendees, and on-site medical teams received multiple reports of similar symptoms on Sunday morning.
Vendor Linked to Previous Incidents
Some attendees identified the vendor as 'Yorky' and noted its connection to food poisoning cases at Download Festival in June 2024.
One anonymous attendee remarked, "It strikes again," referencing the past occurrence.
Bronwyn Gwillym, who fell ill after eating a roast dinner side, described waking up with severe cramps hours later.
Another festivalgoer expressed concerns about food safety at major events, saying, "All festival organizers need to do something to crack down on these sorts of food stalls."
They also claimed that a similar stall at Download left around 500 people needing hospital treatment.
Truck Festival organizers confirmed that their health and safety team identified the vendor and removed it from operation within 90 minutes of the first report.
They reported their findings to the local Environmental Health officer the same day and are supporting the ongoing investigation.
Management apologized to affected attendees, stating, "We share the disappointment and frustration of those whose weekend was affected."
