Wizards of the Coast revealed a major slate of upcoming Dungeons & Dragons releases on July 30, 2026, during Gen Con in Indianapolis.
The announcements include a World of Warcraft crossover, a Dark Sun revival, and revamped online tools.
World of Warcraft Sourcebook
The first entry in the new "Universes Beyond" series will be a D&D sourcebook based on Blizzard's World of Warcraft.
Scheduled for November 17, the book lets players integrate characters, factions, and settings from the online game into tabletop mechanics.
Designed by James Wyatt, it features iconic species like tauren, dracthyr, earthen, and pandaren, plus dungeon crawls such as Icecrown Citadel.
New subclasses include death knights, shadow priests, and demon hunters.
Dark Sun Revival and Annual Setting Support
A revival of the post-apocalyptic setting Dark Sun is planned for 2027, marking the first official material since 2010.
It will be the first Wizards product with an explicit mature content warning due to violent themes.
Under a new "Annual Setting Support" initiative, third-party publishers will produce yearly setting releases starting in 2027.
Ghostfire Gaming will develop a Ravenloft book, Visionary Productions will handle Eberron, and Kobold Press will publish a Forgotten Realms sourcebook.
D&D Icons and Other Announcements
Joe Manganiello has been appointed creative director for D&D Icons, bringing back veteran creators like Margaret Weis, Tracy Hickman, and R.
A. Salvatore.
Luke Gygax is completing an unfinished adventure by his late father, Gary Gygax, for publication under the Icons banner.
Other reveals include a 2027 Greyhawk adventure titled Crown of the Witch Queen and a gameplay reveal for the video game Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons at Gamescom on August 25.
D&D Beyond will receive major user interface updates.
The convention, running through August 2, drew tens of thousands of attendees, with local vendors offering themed food and drinks.
