A 36-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting a mounted police officer in the West Midlands.

Inspector Nick Burton, manager of the West Midlands Police Mounted Unit, emphasized that officers and their horses enjoy interacting with the public.
He noted the positive reactions they usually receive.
However, he made it clear that unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated. The force is taking appropriate action against those involved.

Burton added that mounted officers are highly skilled and trained to handle various situations on horseback.
They are happy to chat and stop for photos when possible, but people must behave safely and respectfully around them.
The police have warned that mounted officers should only be touched in emergencies.
Inappropriate contact could constitute a criminal offense and may endanger the safety of the public, officers, and horses.
West Midlands Police reintroduced mounted horses in February after a 26-year absence. Since then, the officers have become a familiar sight in the area.

Investigations remain open into multiple incidents. The charged man is due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court in August.
