Phil Foden captained Manchester City in Enzo Maresca's first match as manager, a pre-season friendly against Inter Milan on Saturday at Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong.

Maresca fielded a starting XI with nine senior internationals and two academy prospects: defender Stephen Mfuni, 18, and forward Divin Mubama, 21.

Rico Lewis and Mfuni played as fullbacks, with Abdukodir Khusanov and Josko Gvardiol in central defense. Mateo Kovacic and Tijjani Reijnders anchored the midfield.

Penalty Shootout Decides Trophy

The Asahi Super Dry Trophy would be decided by a penalty shootout if the score remained level after 90 minutes.

City's 28-man traveling squad trained at the venue in front of over 22,000 spectators on Friday evening, following their arrival in Hong Kong on Wednesday.

The match also marked the debut of City's 2026/27 away kit, a black and yellow design inspired by the Manchester worker bee symbol.

City have two more fixtures in Asia before returning to England for the Community Shield and their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.
