An Edinburgh-based theatre production company is bringing the first stage adaptation of the classic BBC series I, Claudius to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The production will run at The Royal Scots Club from August 17 to August 2.

The ambitious two-part adaptation marks the 50th anniversary of Jack Pulman's television series, which was based on the historical novels by Robert Graves.
A local creative team leads the performance with a cast of over 20 actors playing more than 80 characters across two separate two-hour plays.
A Theatrical Approach
Company director Jonathan led the multi-year development process to translate the original television screenplays into a theatrical production.

The creative team structured the performance around language and ensemble acting rather than relying on modern stage spectacle or digital special effects.
The production draws on performers with backgrounds in classical theatre and Shakespearean drama to portray the story's political drama and family rivalries.
Members of the local cast are also participating in other Fringe productions, including the Shakespeare medley I Love Thee, I Love Thee Not at the same venue.

The performances will take place at Venue 241 in The Hepburn Suite, offering audiences a unique theatrical experience of this beloved series.
