A Bigfoot sighting was reported on July 5 near Pachaug State Forest in Voluntown, Connecticut. The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization rated the eyewitness account as highly credible.
The sighting occurred on Wiley School Road, a few hundred feet west of Forge Hill Road.

The organization has documented 22 Bigfoot reports in Connecticut, with 11 in Litchfield County.
Local Reactions
Voluntown resident Richard Fedor, who has lived in the area for three decades, said the dense woods and water sources in Pachaug State Forest make it a likely habitat if Bigfoot exists in the state.
"Every once in a while, if it's really quiet and still, you'll hear like a branch pop in the distance.
Yeah, it makes you wonder, 'Oh, what's walking around back there?'" Fedor said.
Neighbor Peter Gautieri expressed skepticism. "You know, it's probably a guy running around with a costume on.

Who knows?" Gautieri said.
A local resident who wished to remain anonymous also doubted the sighting, citing how shadows and fatigue can play tricks on the mind during nighttime driving.
"It's amazing what your mind can do with shadows and things like that when you're tired and, you know, you're dehydrated," the neighbor said.
He further questioned the existence of sasquatches, noting the widespread presence of cameras and sensors that should have captured clear evidence by now.

"We live in a society with cameras and recording devices and sensors everywhere, so to say that something is escaping everyone nationwide or, you know, that there would have to be a group of these things in isolated areas," he said.
