Porsche is reportedly planning to phase out the Taycan by 2030, according to German publication WirtschaftsWoche.
The electric sedan, introduced in 2019 as Porsche's first series production EV, has seen sales collapse from a peak of 40,629 units in 2023 to just 16,339 in 2025.

The decision stems from cooling demand for luxury EVs and the need to cut costs during a challenging period for the Stuttgart-based brand.
Production and Sales Decline
Taycan sales dropped to 20,836 units in 2024 and continued falling to 16,339 in 2025.
In the first half of 2026, only slightly more than 6,000 examples were delivered.
The weak performance has already led to halted assembly at the Zuffenhausen factory for stretches in recent months.
Porsche explored moving production to its Leipzig plant and even considered an immediate termination of the model line.

However, management decided to keep production in Stuttgart and prepare for a gradual retirement before 2030.
Porsche's Response and Future Plans
Porsche declined to comment on the report, but CEO Michael Leiters recently acknowledged trimming Taycan configurations.
He insisted there is no immediate plan to retire the nameplate, describing the approach as watching market demand after the enormous investment.
Dropping the Taycan would open a slot for a fully electric Panamera, mirroring the consolidation seen with the Cayenne.

Currently, Porsche's zero-emission lineup includes the Taycan in sedan, Sport Turismo, and Cross Turismo forms, plus the electric Macan and Cayenne SUVs.
