English driver Katherine Legge is set to attempt a historic 1,100-mile racing marathon on Sunday, May 24, 2026, by competing in both the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.

According to her agency, BRANDed Management, the 45-year-old racer will drive the No. 11 car for A.

J.

Foyt Motorsports in the Indy 500 before traveling to Charlotte Motor Speedway to pilot the No. 78 for Live Fast Motorsports in the Coca-Cola 600.

Legge has already qualified 26th for her fifth Indianapolis 500 appearance. She is one of 41 drivers competing for 40 spots in the Charlotte field.

Logistics and Preparation

The tight schedule requires a helicopter ride from the Indianapolis track to the local airport, followed by a private jet flight to Charlotte, according to the Associated Press.

Legge's management consulted with Kyle Larson's team to replicate their travel blueprint from previous double attempts.

"Hopefully, we get all of the travel woes out of the way now before the weekend," Legge said.

Unpredictable weather could disrupt the timeline, as isolated thunderstorms are forecast for Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon.

"This is a lot to do in a short period of time," Legge said.

"But I'm very lucky that I'm surrounded by great people who have put in a lot of work to make this possible."

Career and Motivation

Legge has accumulated nearly three full INDYCAR seasons, 47 career INDYCAR starts, and 19 national NASCAR series starts, primarily building her 20-year resume in sports car racing, Fox Sports reported.

"I think being the first to do anything is cool," Legge said.

"Being one of the very few who gets to attempt to race at Indy and at Charlotte and then do both on the same day, like looking back in 10, 20 years, like yeah."

She described herself as "an English girl who has assimilated into the United States of America. A race-car driver, an adventure junkie, a foodie."

Legge has completed an Ironman triathlon, skydived, and conquered Pikes Peak. "I try and do things that scare me or that make me feel alive," she said.

Only five drivers have attempted the double since 1994, with Tony Stewart remaining the sole competitor to successfully finish all 1,100 miles.

"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do either the Indy 500 or the Coca-Cola 600 but to be able to do both on the same day is pretty special," Legge said.
