The New York Giants have signed general manager Joe Schoen to a multiyear contract extension, the team confirmed Thursday.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo first reported the deal, which ends speculation about Schoen's future with the franchise.

Schoen has been the Giants' general manager since 2022, overseeing a 22-45-1 record and one playoff appearance during his tenure.

The extension comes after the team dismissed former coach Brian Daboll and restructured its leadership hierarchy.

Under the new structure, head coach John Harbaugh sits at the top, with direct reporting lines to co-owner John Mara.

Senior vice president of football operations and strategy Dawn Aponte now handles contract negotiations and salary cap management, reporting directly to Harbaugh.

Prior to the extension, sports writer Dan Duggan of The Athletic noted that Schoen's status had not been addressed, which he considered a positive sign.

"There hasn't been any word on general manager Joe Schoen's status, which is a strong sign that he's safe, for now," Duggan wrote.

Duggan also highlighted Schoen's scouting role, stating, "Schoen and his staff are immersed in scouting draft prospects 365 days a year in a way that's impossible for a coach to do."

The front office core remained largely intact through spring workouts despite the administrative restructuring.
