Despite a $300 million payroll, the franchise needs to boost its middle infield production to secure a third consecutive World Series title.

Shortstop Mookie Betts has been limited to 20 games due to a right oblique strain, leaving the team thin at the position.

Trade Targets: Abrams and Marte

Bleacher Report analyst Tim Kelly reported that the Dodgers require an upgrade over the combination of Hyeseong Kim, Alex Freeland, and Miguel Rojas.

National League All-Stars CJ Abrams of the Washington Nationals and Ketel Marte of the Arizona Diamondbacks have emerged as potential trade targets for the front office led by Andrew Friedman.

Kelly noted that acquiring Abrams represents a nightmare scenario for the rest of Major League Baseball.

The 25-year-old Abrams remains under team control via arbitration until 2029 and previously arose in offseason trade discussions, according to Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors.

Sporting News reported that Abrams currently leads the Major Leagues with 46 RBIs and owns a . 925 OPS with 12 home runs through 54 games.

Rojas Confirms Retirement Plans

The 37-year-old Rojas confirmed his impending retirement during an interview with David Vassegh on Dodger Talk, despite previously hitting a game-tying home run in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series.

Rojas noted that teammate Shohei Ohtani personally requested he continue playing before he signed a one-year contract for 2026.

"This is my last year. That's something that I said last year.

This is going to be my last year playing professional baseball. That's the way I want to see it," Rojas said.

The veteran infielder, currently batting . 256 with a .

643 OPS across 33 games, expressed a desire to transition into an organizational role with Los Angeles after his playing career ends.

However, he stated that securing another championship this season could prompt a family discussion about returning.

"There's one possibility, and it's winning another championship," Rojas said.

"I'm going to have to sit down with my wife and see what is out there for me, especially with this organization."

Rojas clarified that any potential return would require mutual interest from the front office, as the franchise might choose to move in a different direction.
