Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti has reportedly made center Chet Holmgren unavailable for trades this summer, despite a major market shift caused by the Milwaukee Bucks trading superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo on Monday.
According to thunderousintentions. com, the blockbuster trade centered around Antetokounmpo reshaped how the league values perennial superstars.
The Bucks secured a massive return from Miami that included All-Star Tyler Herro, a portion of the Heat's second unit, and multiple first-round draft picks.
While Holmgren is not yet of Antetokounmpo's caliber, the 24-year-old offers distinct spacing advantages due to his three-point shooting.
Additionally, the Oklahoma City front office maintains complete control over Holmgren's future without an immediate pressure to deal him, providing the franchise with significant leverage in the current market.
Sports analyst Skip Bayless voiced his support for the franchise's stance via social media following the league-altering transaction on Monday.
