Buffalo Sabres forward Alex Tuch is expected to test the NHL unrestricted free agency market on July 1, 2026, after contract extension talks with the team stalled during draft week.
The 30-year-old winger recorded 33 goals and 33 assists for 66 points in 79 games last season, helping the Sabres reach the playoffs for the first time in 15 years.

Negotiations between Buffalo and Tuch's representatives intensified on Tuesday but failed to bridge the gap.
His camp is reportedly seeking a seven-year deal worth between $10 million and $12 million annually.
The Sabres have held firm on a significantly lower offer, leading to speculation that the team may pursue a sign-and-trade to avoid losing him without compensation.
Several teams are expected to pursue Tuch if he hits the open market, including the Seattle Kraken, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vegas Golden Knights, San Jose Sharks, and New York Rangers.
ESPN insiders reported that Tuch's camp remains in communication with Buffalo but has not closed the gap on a new contract.

They noted that early negotiations could mirror previous league maneuvers where teams secured premium assets before a bidding war.
"Given the low compensation cost, don't count out anyone," the insiders wrote, referencing a prior trade involving a fifth-round pick.
The Sabres cleared $6.25 million in additional cap space on Tuesday by trading defenseman Bowen Byram and winger Jordan Greenway to Chicago for the fourth-overall draft pick.
Journalist Darren Dreger reported on social media that "while there's been ongoing discussion on the possibility of Alex Tuch extending in Buffalo, at this point it appears the coveted forward is going to test free agency."
