Australian rider Senna Agius topped the second free practice session for the Moto2 class at the TT Circuit Assen on Saturday morning, June 27, 2026.

Agius recorded a best lap time of 1'35.139 on his penultimate lap, leading a one-two finish for the LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP team.

Manuel González finished 0.167 seconds behind in second place.

David Alonso took third, followed by Alberto Ferrández and Daniel Muñoz to round out the top five.

Local favorite Collin Veijer of Red Bull KTM Ajo placed sixth with a time of 1'35.793, missing the top five by just one thousandth of a second.

The 21-year-old Dutch rider is competing in his home Grand Prix while managing a persistent right shoulder injury sustained three months ago during a crash at the Grand Prix of the Americas.

Veijer said the injury has caused ongoing pain, leading him to use painkillers during a race weekend for the first time in his career.

"I think that we should come a long way with painkillers. In training I do not suffer from it and then we are usually in a good position.

But in the race, tension is added naturally. You are also literally tensing more.

During a race I have never used painkillers before, because I am not really into that.

But I think I am going to try it anyway this weekend," Veijer said.

The Staphorst native has had an inconsistent Moto2 season, with a pole position and a podium in Spain but sits 11th in the championship after multiple crashes.

Reflecting on his recent performances, Veijer acknowledged the setbacks caused by crashes while fighting at the front.

"We fight every time for a good position, but then I also often fall off.

Although I was not in a good position with those two highsiders, that was the case when my front end washed out.

Then I was in fifth or sixth place," he said.

The mental challenge of dealing with racing incidents has become a key focus as he adapts his riding approach.

"I am of the opinion that you can learn that.

That fire in me I have to start using in a different way and I have to become a bit wiser in some situations.

We are busy working on that," Veijer said.

To combat the expected high temperatures at Assen, Veijer is using specialized physical preparation including electrolyte drinks, cooling vests, and post-race ice baths.

"That is good for my muscles, but also for my head to completely calm down again.

And I must say that during the race I am actually not concerned with the heat at all.

You notice it especially when you come back inside the pit box," he said.

Supporters from Staphorst and Rouveen are traveling via organized buses to the circuit on Sunday morning.

"There is of course always a great atmosphere after the races and I hope that we can bring that about again this year," Veijer said.

He set clear performance metrics for a successful home Grand Prix: "If we finish in the top 10 and can take points home."

Fellow Dutch rider Zonta van den Goorbergh finished 23rd in FP2 with a personal best lap of 1'36.400.
