Emma Raducanu's Wimbledon participation is in doubt after the British tennis player abruptly ended a practice session just two days before the tournament, raising major fitness concerns.
The 30th seed had been managing a right foot injury following her run to the final at Queen's Club.
She missed two days of training and was seen wearing a medical boot before returning to the court.
During Saturday's practice, observers noted heavy tape on her right ankle and lower leg.
She warmed up with Anna Kalinskaya before starting a practice set, but the session quickly deteriorated.
Raducanu struggled to push off her right ankle while striking the ball. Trailing 0-4, 0-15, she hit a backhand off-balance and immediately signaled she could not continue.
After a brief embrace at the net, she left the court with her coaching staff, with 15 minutes of scheduled time remaining.
Media Duties Postponed
Pre-tournament media obligations scheduled for Saturday were postponed to Sunday, keeping her competitive status uncertain.
Raducanu remains scheduled to play Antonia Ruzic in the first round on Monday at 1 p. m.
This setback follows previous physical challenges, including surgeries to both wrists and her ankle that forced her out of the 2023 championships, as well as back pain during the lead-up to Wimbledon last year.
