Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc firmly rejected theories that teammate Lewis Hamilton is developing the SF-26 car away from his driving style, despite recent performance disparities.
Speaking at the Red Bull Ring on June 27, 2026, Leclerc dismissed suggestions that Hamilton's technical feedback has compromised his own confidence and vehicle setup direction.

Hamilton currently leads Leclerc by 40 points in the Drivers' Championship standings, holding second place with 115 points while Leclerc sits fourth with 75 points following recent retirements in Monaco and Barcelona.
Former F1 drivers Karun Chandhok and Jolyon Palmer noted that Hamilton's recent Spanish Grand Prix victory shifts the internal momentum at Ferrari, making the upcoming races critical for Leclerc's season.
Leclerc: Technical Issues, Not Car Development, Behind Struggles
"I honestly don't think that this is the case," Leclerc responded when asked about the theory.
The Monegasque driver explained that technical anomalies and brake issues hindered his performance in Canada and Monaco rather than fundamental vehicle development flaws.
"It's not that I don't feel comfortable with this year's car, it's just that in Montreal, particularly, and in Monaco, we've had some issues that have been very, very tricky, and there I've lost a bit of confidence with the car, but not with the package in itself," Leclerc added.
Leclerc emphasized that modern Formula 1 regulations offer sufficient setup flexibility to accommodate different driving characteristics within the same garage.
