Western University's Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) has confirmed that an EF1 tornado struck the Lakefield sector in Quebec's Laurentians region on June 18, 2026.
The tornado generated winds up to 145 kilometers per hour and tracked 5.18 kilometers from the southwest, with a path width of approximately 370 meters.
Severe weather primarily damaged trees and one residence north of Lachute. No injuries were reported from the incident, which occurred at 2:30 p.
m.
Investigation and Season Context
A ground and drone inspection led by the NTP was conducted on June 25, 2026, to document the damage, according to the project's statement.
This storm marks the 42nd tornado recorded across Canada during the 2026 season, as reported by MeteoMedia.
The Canadian Prairies have experienced the majority of this year's activity with 33 tornadoes, including a severe EF3 tornado near Oxbow, Saskatchewan, on June 9, 2026.
