The Brooklyn Nets have signed guard Keon Ellis to a two-year, $18 million guaranteed contract, according to ESPN reports.
The move reunites the 26-year-old with head coach Jordi Fernandez, whom he played under during their time with the Sacramento Kings.
The contract includes a full mutual option that guarantees the full $18 million for Ellis.
Both sides can opt in for a new deal next summer, as reported by Shams Charania.
Ellis' Performance and Role
Ellis played for the Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2025-26 season.
In 72 total games, he averaged 6.7 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assists, shooting 44.0% from the field and 36.3% from three-point range.
His performance improved after the trade deadline with the Cavaliers.
Over 29 games, he averaged 8.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.3 steals, while converting over 80% of his free throws.
The Nets are focusing on defensive upgrades this offseason.
After declining a team option for Ziaire Williams, acquiring Ellis signals a tactical shift toward improving perimeter pressure and floor spacing around their young core.
Brooklyn has also been active in other roster moves.
The team acquired forward Julius Randle via trade, re-signed Josh Minott and Day'Ron Sharpe, picked up the team option on Malachi Smith, and extended a two-way qualifying offer to Chaney Johnson.
