Genesis has scheduled the official unveiling of its flagship GV90 electric SUV for September 9, 2026, according to multiple reports.

The launch marks a major milestone for the luxury brand after technical challenges delayed the vehicle's initial rollout last year.

The full-size ultra-luxury SUV will be the first model built at Hyundai Motor Group's new dedicated EV plant in Ulsan, South Korea.

Hyundai has already assembled over 250 mass-production units at the facility for final quality checks and production stabilization ahead of the autumn launch.

New Platform and Range

The GV90 is expected to debut the new "eM" platform, replacing the current E-GMP architecture.

Hyundai states the new platform could improve driving efficiency and range by up to 50 percent.

Industry observers expect the vehicle to feature a battery pack exceeding 100 kWh, delivering a single-charge driving range of at least 300 miles (approximately 480 kilometers).

Global prototype testing revealed a standard model alongside a top-tier variant with coach doors (B-pillar removed), premium cashmere and leather interiors, and four VIP captain's seats inspired by the Neolun concept car.

Vehicles spotted charging at Tesla Superchargers in the US indicate the inclusion of a built-in North American Charging Standard port for the 2027 model-year release.

The interior will integrate a massive center infotainment display running the new Connect W operating system, based on the Pleos Connect OS, allowing smartphone-like app installations and customizable layouts.

Pricing and Launch Event

Official pricing will be finalized closer to launch.

The standard model is projected to start around 100 million won ($65,000), while the top-spec variant could exceed 200 million won ($130,000).

In the US, market entry prices for the base model are expected to hover around $100,000 as Genesis targets the premium luxury segment.

"We are preparing the Genesis GV90 launch schedule with the goal of unveiling it on September 9," said an anonymous high-ranking Hyundai Motor Group official quoted by AsiaToday.

The official noted that internal coordination is underway to finalize the timeline, which may coincide with the completion ceremony of the Ulsan facility.

"The final schedule is currently being adjusted internally," added the official.

Hyundai Motor Group is evaluating whether to combine the grand opening of the Ulsan factory, which has an annual capacity of 200,000 EVs, with the GV90 launch event.
