The New York Rangers have acquired Finnish goaltender Joonas Korpisalo from the Boston Bruins, the team announced Wednesday.
In exchange, the Rangers sent forward Kalle Vaisanen and a fourth-round pick in the 2028 NHL draft to Boston.
Veteran Netminder Joins Rangers
Korpisalo, 32, spent two seasons with the Bruins before the trade.
He recently helped Finland win a World Championship gold medal, posting a 94.7 save percentage in two games.
During the past NHL regular season, Korpisalo appeared in 31 games for Boston, recording an 89.4 save percentage and a 3.15 goals-against average.
The veteran has played 11 NHL seasons, totaling 334 regular-season games with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Los Angeles Kings, and Ottawa Senators.
Korpisalo has two years remaining on his contract, carrying an annual salary of $4 million.
He is expected to serve as the backup to Rangers star goaltender Igor Shestyorkin.
Vaisanen Heads to Boston
Vaisanen, 23, is a 195-centimeter forward originally drafted by the Rangers in the fourth round.
He spent last season in the American Hockey League with the Hartford Wolf Pack, recording three goals and one assist for four points in 51 games.
