The St. Louis Blues have signed forward Ross Johnston to a three-year, $6 million contract.
The deal was announced on the opening day of NHL free agency, July 1, 2026.
The contract carries an average annual value of $2 million through the 2028-2029 season. St. Louis Blues General Manager Alexander Steen confirmed the terms.
First Move Under New Management
This signing represents the first official roster move for Alexander Steen. He assumed the role of general manager on Tuesday.
The acquisition adds size and physical presence to the Blues' bottom-six forward group. It is part of a roster retooling strategy under the new management.
Johnston's Career Highlights
Johnston, 32, achieved career highs during the 2025-2026 regular season with the Anaheim Ducks.
He recorded three goals, 11 assists, 14 points, and 107 penalty minutes across 62 games.
The 6-foot-5, 232-pound forward also registered a team-leading 192 hits and participated in nine fights during the campaign.
The Prince Edward Island native has played 307 career regular-season NHL games.
He has suited up for the New York Islanders and Anaheim Ducks, accumulating 14 goals, 32 assists, 46 points, and 579 penalty minutes.
Johnston also recorded four penalty minutes in five postseason games for Anaheim during the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
