Videoland has acquired streaming platform ViaPlay and its broadcasting rights, bringing major sports coverage like the Premier League and Formula 1 to the Dutch service.
The acquisition was announced on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, according to a press release from DPG Media.

The deal includes broadcasting rights for Premier League football, PDC darts, and Formula 1.
The exact transfer date has not been announced, as the transaction awaits regulatory approval.
Current ViaPlay subscribers will experience no immediate changes and can continue accessing sports events through the existing application.

Once the acquisition receives official approval, the sports rights will be integrated directly into Videoland.
Ellen van den Berghe, streaming director at Videoland, said the company has long aimed to build a strong second pillar with sports alongside its entertainment offering.
She noted that watching sports together is deeply rooted in Dutch culture and that the experience is shifting rapidly to streaming.

With the programs, sports rights, and platform that Viaplay has established in the Netherlands, Videoland can bring a wonderful sports offering to its users, van den Berghe added.
