England defender Jarell Quansah was sent off during a friendly match against Mexico at the Estadio Azteca after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review.
The incident occurred in the 54th minute when Quansah and Mexico's Jesús Gallardo contested a ball on the left wing.
Quansah executed a slide tackle, making contact with the ball using his thigh but leaving his studs up, which struck the Mexican fullback.
Referee Alireza Faghani initially allowed play to continue, and England launched a counterattack until a subsequent foul by Mexico halted the match.
Faghani then reviewed the replay on the VAR monitor and promptly dismissed Quansah from the game.
Penalty Decisions and Goal Impact
The VAR also reviewed a penalty incident involving Harry Kane and Brian Gutiérrez inside the area.
Raúl Jiménez converted the resulting penalty for Mexico, narrowing the scoreline to 2-3.
Prior to that, Kane had successfully converted a penalty to extend England's lead to 3-1 before conceding the foul on Gutiérrez moments later.
