England will take on Norway in the World Cup quarterfinals on July 11, 2026, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

The match kicks off at 5 p. m.

local time (10 p. m.

BST).

England secured its spot with a 3-2 victory over co-hosts Mexico.

Norway earned its first-ever quarterfinal appearance by defeating Brazil 2-1, thanks to a late double from striker Erling Haaland.

Norway's Historic Night

Tens of thousands of fans celebrated on the streets of Oslo after the win, prompting Crown Prince Haakon to appear at the royal palace.

National coach Ståle Solbakken called it a historic night for the country.

“I think that all Norwegian citizens are experiencing the night of a lifetime,” Solbakken said.

“Erling was our match-winner but I’m happy that everyone played their game on the greatest night in Norwegian football history.”

Solbakken credited the team’s strong culture for their unity and freedom to express themselves. “This is a great group.

They love being together, they train well, they help each other and protect each other,” he said.

The coach also highlighted a half-time double substitution of his wingers as a key tactical decision. “You have to have faith in what you do.

You have to follow your gut feeling,” he added.

Haaland expressed excitement about the celebrations. “I wish I was on those streets; I wish I was involved in it.

All of Norway has to enjoy themselves. It’s one of the sickest days ever in Norwegian history,” he said.

Brazil’s defeat came despite a late penalty from Neymar. Bruno Guimarães also had a first-half penalty saved.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti said, “Everyone is profoundly disappointed. This is a defeat, and we have to continue doing our jobs.

It’s not the end, it’s the beginning of a new cycle.”

Neymar appeared to announce his international retirement after the match, saying, “I tried, I tried … Now it’s over.”

A victory in Miami would likely set up a semifinal against Argentina in Atlanta on July 15, with France as a probable opponent in the final on July 19.
