Publix grocery stores have recalled GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries across eight southern states following an E. coli outbreak that sickened 12 people.

The voluntary recall was initiated on July 3, 2026, after supplier Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S. A.

linked the product to the infections.

The affected blueberries come in 10-ounce packages with lot code 60401 and a best-by date of Feb. 9, 2028.

According to Publix, 12 confirmed cases of E. coli O145:H28 infections were reported between May 11 and June 5.

The recall affects stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Health Risks and Customer Action

The Shiga toxin-producing bacteria strain can cause severe stomach cramps, vomiting, and bloody diarrhea.

Customers who purchased the frozen berries on or before July 3, 2026, should discard them or return them to a Publix store for a full refund.

Publix stated it is working closely with regulatory authorities and its customers regarding the recall.
