Seelinger's Path to the Mets
Seelinger, a Long Island native, is expected to report to the Syracuse Mets, New York's Triple-A affiliate. He previously pitched for Detroit's Triple-A team, the Toledo Mud Hens.
This season, the right-hander has posted a 3.89 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP over 39 1/3 innings for Toledo, recording 49 strikeouts and 19 walks.
In 2025, Seelinger registered a 1.89 ERA across 11 games in Double-A before earning a promotion to Triple-A, where he logged a 3.30 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP with 55 strikeouts over 46 1/3 innings.

According to Amazin' Avenue, Seelinger's contract included an upward mobility clause.
This required the Tigers to either promote him to their major league roster or trade him to an interested club.
The roster move could position Seelinger for a call-up to the Mets' bullpen or secure him a spot on the 40-man roster.

With New York projected to trade away several relief pitchers ahead of the upcoming trade deadline, open roster spots might provide Seelinger the opportunity to make his major league debut later this year.
