US President Donald Trump said Tuesday at a NATO summit in Ankara that he believes both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky want the war in Ukraine to end.
Trump made the remarks after discussions with both leaders. The summit comes as violence escalates on the ground.
Heavy Attacks Continue
Ukrainian forces launched over 430 drones toward Moscow overnight, according to the city's mayor.
Meanwhile, Russian strikes killed at least 24 people near Kyiv after Ukraine's air defenses failed to intercept ballistic missiles.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte urged allies to maintain support for Ukraine. "Ensure Ukraine gets what it needs," he said, reaffirming the alliance's commitment to defend Ukrainian sovereignty.
Zelensky expressed frustration over international manufacturing limits for advanced defensive weapons.
He renewed calls for the US to grant licenses to produce advanced air defense systems, calling the current situation "absurd" where global production cannot meet demand.
The diplomatic talks at the summit focused on Ukraine's immediate defense needs and its domestic production capabilities as the conflict intensifies.
