FCSB owner Gigi Becali has denied reports that he offered 1.5 million euros for Trabzonspor forward Denis Dragus, insisting he is only interested in a loan move.

Speaking on July 23, 2026, Becali dismissed Turkish media claims that FCSB was preparing a multimillion-euro transfer for the Romanian international.

"No, it's not true. I'm still waiting for Denis Dragus, but what appeared is not true.

If he comes, fine. But he has to reach an agreement with them, I have nothing to do with it.

I'm not paying any money for the transfer, I'll take him on loan if it happens," Becali told digisport.

Piturca Warns of Financial Risks

Former manager Victor Piturca analyzed the potential move, highlighting both benefits and financial risks due to Dragus's high salary in Turkey.

"I can't say that Dragus wouldn't be good for FCSB. I think it would be a good move.

He is a good player, with qualities, strong, of value for the Romanian championship.

At the same time, we must be aware that he hasn't played much in Turkey lately and hasn't had success," Piturca said.

Piturca noted that while Dragus performed well for the national team, his wage demands require careful analysis.

"He came to the national team, played good matches, but didn't establish himself at his club team. Although he plays in a medium-value championship, like Turkey's.

It should be well analyzed beforehand. Why?

Because there's a lot of money involved. We are talking about a high salary and he won't come for less," he added.

He stressed that tactical integration and squad strategy must guide decisions.

"Then, you have to make an effort and give him that much. If he comes to FCSB and doesn't play at the desired level, then it's bad.

It means you made the wrong choice.

The coach, together with those in charge of transfers, must discuss, see how they want to play, what the strategy is.

At random it's harder... Football nowadays means money, but also projects," Piturca said.

FCSB Official Optimistic About Season

FCSB official Florin Cernat addressed the club's summer recruitment and expressed optimism for upcoming European matches.

"I am sure that we will have a different face. We didn't finish last season the way we wanted, but this season will be something else.

After the preparation done in the Netherlands, I have high hopes that we will have a different face.

I really, really want us to start very well in tonight's match as well because we need results for ourselves and for the fans," Cernat said.

Cernat defended the club's measured transfer approach after adding five new signings.

"We made many transfers. Everyone was criticizing us for not making transfers, but we were in no hurry.

We waited to get exactly what we needed. I want the new guys to start on the right foot as well.

If they are well, clearly the team will also have a different face," he stated.

He confirmed FCSB's admiration for Dragus as they seek to strengthen their attack.

"He's a very good player. I know him from Viitorul, back when I played there too.

He's a player who would help us a lot. Normally we want him.

After all, he's a national team player," Cernat said.

Trabzonspor previously announced their squad for summer training camp, leaving Dragus's long-term future subject to evaluations by technical staff.
