Ben Affleck opened up about parenting his teenage children during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The actor said his attempt to offer relationship advice at a family dinner was quickly dismissed by his 17-year-old child.
Affleck, 54, has three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14.
He described how his children discuss friends, drama, and relationships at the dinner table.
Believing his lived experience was worth sharing, Affleck tried to pass on some lessons.
Instead, his teenager fired back: "Oh, like you're the expert on relationships?"
Affleck's personal history includes a decade-long marriage to Garner that ended in divorce in 2018.
He later married Jennifer Lopez in 2022, and Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024.
Jennifer Garner Declined Role in Animals
During the same interview, Affleck revealed that Garner turned down an offer to play his movie wife in his latest film, Animals.
He directed and co-wrote the film.
Affleck recalled Garner's response: "Jen was like, 'Great, but no, I'm not gonna play your wife in a movie.'"
Reflecting on her decision, Affleck said the outcome was likely appropriate.
"[It's] probably for the best. That lesson has been learned," he said.
After Garner passed on the project, actress Kerry Washington accepted the role.
The film focuses on a husband and wife who take extreme measures to pay a ransom for their kidnapped son.
Lopez also spoke about living with love and respect for everyone in their lives.
"We know what the truth is [and] we hold it sacred," she said.
