San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans plans to suit up for Sunday's Week 3 divisional matchup against the Arizona Cardinals despite a hip injury, according to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler.
Evans was listed as questionable after missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday, then returning as a limited participant on Friday.
He sustained the injury during a blowout win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 2.
In his first season with San Francisco after eleven years in Tampa Bay, Evans has caught nine of ten targets for 103 yards and one touchdown through two games.
Injury Woes Hit 49ers Roster
Evans' availability offers relief for a roster battered by injuries, especially on defense where six of ten defensive linemen were lost over two weeks.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan called the situation unusual on Friday.
"Losing six out of the 10 D-linemen in the last two weeks that have made our team is a little unusual," Shanahan said.
"I don't think I've been a part of that, so that has been different."
The depth issues forced San Francisco to work out four veteran pass rushers on Saturday after star defensive end Nick Bosa sustained a calf injury during Thursday's practice warmup, expected to sideline him for several weeks.
The wide receiver corps has seen similar attrition, losing Ricky Pearsall for the season to a knee injury, De'Zhaun Stribling for two months with an ankle issue, and Demarcus Robinson to injured reserve with a high ankle sprain.
Shanahan praised Evans' performance and leadership since he joined the franchise in the offseason.
"Everything as advertised as a person and a player," Shanahan said.
San Francisco enters Sunday's game at 2-0 and is set to kick off against the Cardinals at 1:05 p.
