Houston also won its game against the Oakland Athletics, forcing the division race to come down to Sunday’s final games.
Houston holds the tiebreaker due to winning the season series against Texas.
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said, "I always say, you worry about tomorrow tomorrow. You have to win today.
Tomorrow's pretty important, too."
Texas needs a win and a Houston loss Sunday to clinch the playoffs.
Rangers catcher Danny Jansen said, "We're here, and it's a chance, and we're excited for it.
I've never been a part of a game like this, but it's going to be a lot of fun to go out there and leave it all on the field and control what we can."
Schumaker praised his team's resilience despite injuries to key hitters Joc Pederson and Josh Jung, stating, "Those guys don't go down without a fight.
You can tell that they play for each other. They're gonna give every single ounce they have and empty the tank, especially this last week.
They have never quit on me. They've never quit on each other the whole year."
The Rangers' bottom lineup stepped up Saturday, with players like Nicky Lopez, Danny Jansen, Evan Carter, and Alejandro Osuna contributing crucial hits.
Schumaker said, "There's a lot of guys that want to be the guy... But that's why I keep saying it's the collective.
It’s the nine guys that have to do this thing together."
Saturday’s win featured all nine Rangers starters recording a hit, and the team’s four doubles in one inning marked their most since 2009.
Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi, making his first start since early August, delivered 4 1/3 innings allowing just one run.
Reliever Robert Garcia earned the win with 1 2/3 scoreless innings.
Brandon Nimmo made a critical defensive play to prevent a Twins rally and helped the team despite calf cramps.
Nicky Lopez was injured but vowed to be ready for Sunday’s game.
