Daniil Medvedev will face Pablo Carreno Busta in the round of 32 at the ATP China Open in Beijing on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 3:00 AM ET.

Medvedev arrives at the ATP 500 event fresh from winning the Hangzhou tournament title.

In Tuesday's final in Hangzhou, the 30-year-old Russian defeated Andrey Rublev 7-5, 6-4 to claim the 24th title of his career across 23 different cities.

It marked his third trophy of the season.

Currently ranked No. 6 in the world with a 1936.4 hard-court Elo rating, Medvedev holds a substantial statistical edge over Carreno Busta.

His 52-week metrics include an 84.4% service game win rate and a 75.5% first-serve points won percentage, alongside a 1.488 dominance ratio.

Carreno Busta, ranked No. 66 with a 1709.7 hard-court Elo rating, advanced to the main draw after winning two qualifying matches in Beijing.

The 35-year-old Spaniard holds a 78.0% service game win rate and a 68.5% first-serve points won percentage over the past 52 weeks.

However, he has posted a 1-5 record in his last six main-draw appearances dating back to July.

Head-to-Head History

The upcoming match marks the eighth total meeting between the two players, with Medvedev leading their overall head-to-head series 5-2.

Medvedev has won four of their five hard-court encounters, though Carreno Busta secured a victory in their 2021 Tokyo Olympics quarterfinal matchup before Medvedev answered with wins in Cincinnati and at the Davis Cup Finals.

The winner of Friday's opening-round contest advances in the Beijing draw, where sixth seed Medvedev sits eighth in the race to Turin for the Nitto ATP Finals.
