Los Angeles medical examiners have ruled the death of Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter, a suicide.
The ruling was issued Thursday, following her passing at a local hospital on Sept. 29.
Authorities pronounced the teenager dead at 1:14 a. m.
at a Los Angeles-area hospital.
Her parents publicly announced her passing on Tuesday, according to WMTW News.
The family expressed their grief and praised their daughter's character in an official public statement.
"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the family said in a statement to People magazine.
Her family recalled her vibrant personality, stating that she was smart, creative, and possessed a passionate love for dance.
"She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents," the family said in the statement.
"In fact, she was the light of our lives."
Addressing public support and mental health awareness, the family requested privacy while urging individuals struggling with mental health challenges to seek immediate aid.
"Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time," the family said.

Fiona Lowe was born on Nov. 16, 2012.
Lowe and Painter also share two other daughters, 17-year-old Mabel Painter Lowe and 10-year-old Nixie Barbara Lowe.
Chad Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, previously received an Emmy Award for his supporting performance in "Life Goes On" portraying a young man living with HIV.
