The Philadelphia Eagles have ruled out wide receiver DeVonta Smith and linebacker Zack Baun for Sunday's Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams at Lincoln Financial Field on October 4, 2026.
Smith, who played every offensive snap in a Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears, missed practice all week with a hamstring injury that had previously limited him in training camp.
His absence leaves quarterback Jalen Hurts without two primary targets, as tight end Dallas Goedert also remains sidelined with an MCL strain suffered in Week 2.
With Smith inactive, receiver Dontayvion Wicks shifts into the lead role alongside wider duties for Darius Cooper, Elijah Moore, and first-round rookie Makai Lemon.
Smith is currently averaging 78 receiving yards per game, while Lemon has gathered seven catches for 38 yards across his first three professional appearances under offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.
"Being me, the player I am, I already have that confidence," said Wicks, Wide Receiver.
The offensive unit is relying on its remaining wideouts to step up, placing added expectations on Lemon to handle an expanded workload within the passing scheme.
"I got faith in the coaches in what they call. So whatever they have me doing, just making sure I do My job," said Lemon, Wide Receiver.
Defensively, Baun was placed in concussion protocol after taking 92 percent of snaps against Chicago before leaving late in the game.
Linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. will start alongside Jihaad Campbell against a Rams team averaging 418 total yards per game.
"I have to make sure that I'm ready so if I go in there, I've got to make sure I'm doing my part to help the team win," said Trotter Jr., Linebacker.
"You don't want to step into a role and be a liability out there, so I'm making sure I'm prepared just like every single week," said Trotter Jr., Linebacker.
Philadelphia also ruled out safety Marcus Epps due to a groin injury sustained in Thursday's practice, offensive tackle Fred Johnson with a knee injury, and receiver Hollywood Brown with an ankle injury.
Cornerback Michael Carter II is slated for additional defensive snaps in place of Epps.
The visiting Los Angeles Rams ruled out defensive tackle Aaron Donald with a back injury, while wide receiver Puka Nacua is set to return from hip and groin issues.
