New England Patriots wide receiver Efton Chism III made a one-handed 23-yard touchdown catch with 1:50 remaining, lifting his team to a 29-26 win over the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium on October 4, 2026.
The late fourth-quarter score handed Buffalo its first defeat of the season, dropping the Bills to 3-1.
It also marked Buffalo's first home loss in its new stadium.
The Bills had taken a 26-21 lead with 4:27 left when Josh Allen connected with Keon Coleman on a 34-yard touchdown pass.
New England then began its final scoring drive, with quarterback Drake Maye moving the offense across midfield.
Maye found Chism for a 19-yard gain before the two-minute warning.
On the next snap, Maye rolled right under pressure and threw into the right side of the end zone.
Chism extended his right arm while contested by a defender and maintained possession as he hit the turf.
Reflecting on the pivotal play, the undrafted wideout described his mental state during the pass.
"Shoot, when I'm out there and the ball's in the air, I kind of black out.
I'm kind of in that little flow state," said Efton Chism III, Patriots wide receiver, as reported by Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald.
Rhamondre Stevenson converted the ensuing two-point attempt to push the margin to three points.
Safety Craig Woodson sealed the result on Buffalo's final drive by intercepting Allen at the Patriots' 19-yard line.
Maye finished the game with 22 completions on 37 attempts for 269 passing yards and three touchdowns.
Chism entered the contest with five career catches for 74 yards, having logged negative receiving yards across his first two appearances of the 2026 campaign.
