The Carolina Panthers have placed both starting cornerbacks, Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, on injured reserve this week.
That leaves their secondary severely depleted ahead of a Week 4 matchup with the Detroit Lions, potentially opening opportunities for receiver Isaac TeSlaa.
Detroit's passing attack features primary targets Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, who are expected to draw focused coverage.
Analysts suggest that attention could create favorable matchups for secondary options like TeSlaa, leading to increased targets.
TeSlaa's Growing Role
Drew Ellis of Sports Betting Dime noted TeSlaa's increased involvement in recent weeks.
"The second-year receiver has seen an increased role in the offense the last two weeks, upping his receptions and yards every week this season," Ellis told Lions OnSI.
Ellis added that TeSlaa is coming off a 66-yard performance against the Jets and now faces a Carolina defense that is just as banged up in the secondary as Detroit is.
He believes that should lead to strong matchups for TeSlaa and for the Lions to design play calls to get him the ball.
Detroit acquired TeSlaa by trading up in the third round of last year's draft.
Through three games this season, he has recorded five catches for 92 yards.
During his rookie campaign, TeSlaa caught 16 passes, six of which were touchdowns.
