Chase Briscoe captured his second consecutive NASCAR Cup Series win on October 11, 2026, edging teammate Christopher Bell by 0.029 seconds at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver led 62 laps in the Bank of America 400 and survived a late tire problem and traffic to take the checkered flag.

The 267-lap contest produced the closest finish of the 2026 Cup Series season and the second-closest in the track's history.

Bell charged alongside Briscoe entering the final corner, and the two Toyotas made contact before crossing the line.

Ryan Blaney finished third, followed by Josh Berry and Denny Hamlin.

Briscoe Holds Off Bell After Late Traffic

Briscoe described the difficulty of navigating lapped traffic in the closing laps, saying his car became increasingly hard to control.

"When I got that final pack of lapped cars with five or six to go, I just felt like I was going to knock the wall down at any point.

It just quit turning," Briscoe said.

He also acknowledged the tension of another close finish after securing the win.

"I don't know what it is about these finishes. I've got to quit making it so excited at the end," Briscoe said.

Bell led at the end of Stage 2 on Lap 166, while Briscoe advanced through the field during the final stage and took the lead on Lap 211.

Traffic in the closing laps gave Bell an opportunity to challenge for the win.

The victory extended Briscoe's strong run after his October 4 win at Las Vegas, following a second-place finish at Kansas on September 27.

Van Gisbergen Rises to Seventh

Shane van Gisbergen finished seventh in the No. 97 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet, earning his second consecutive top-10 result at Charlotte.

He started 10th after rain canceled qualifying and the starting order was determined by NASCAR's established metrics.

Van Gisbergen dropped to 14th after the competition caution and pit stops around Lap 36.

He finished Stage 1 in 27th place and improved to 13th by the end of Stage 2 before advancing to seventh at the finish.

After the race, van Gisbergen praised his team's work in improving the car during the event.

"Great job guys," van Gisbergen radioed after taking the checkered flag.

"That was an awesome good job making the car better," van Gisbergen said.

Kyle Larson, who started from the pole after qualifying was canceled, finished sixth in the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.

He led the early stages and won Stage 1, but Christopher Bell passed him for the lead by Lap 108.

Contact between Larson and Hamlin on Lap 124 sent Larson down the running order.

The race also featured several incidents and penalties.

Ty Gibbs hit the wall on a restart and spun on Lap 42, while Alex Bowman lost control of his car on Lap 77, bringing an early end to Stage 1.

Later, Tyler Reddick spun Gray Gaulding on Lap 206, prompting another caution.

Hamlin was penalized after a tire escaped his team's control and entered Trackhouse Racing's pit stall, while Blaney was penalized for speeding.

William Byron finished 39th, last among the classified finishers listed by Yahoo Sports, while Bubba Wallace placed 37th and Alex Bowman finished 38th.
