European military forces are set to rehearse a potential deployment to Ukraine through multinational exercises in Poland this November.

At least 1,500 troops from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Poland are expected to take part, according to The Times on October 17.

The drills will simulate how an international contingent could operate after a possible ceasefire with Russia.

They are designed to support Ukraine's security and deter renewed Russian aggression.

Logistics and coordination at the core

The exercises will test personnel movements, coordination among national armed forces, and the delivery of essential supplies.

Logistics will be a central component, including arrangements for transporting fuel and food.

These activities aim to prepare forces for the practical challenges of deploying and sustaining troops across national borders if a future agreement permits an international security mission.

British Defense Secretary Wes Streeting confirmed that thousands of military personnel would participate in exercises the following month.

He said the training would help participating countries prepare to support Ukraine's military training requirements and postwar reconstruction.

The planned drills fall under the Coalition of the Willing initiative, which brings together countries discussing possible security guarantees for Ukraine after hostilities end.

The exercises are intended to bring multinational units together and allow personnel from different armed forces to practice operating alongside one another.

The preparations reflect ongoing discussions between Ukraine and its European partners about establishing an international security contingent.

The proposed arrangements center on the practical requirements of deploying forces and maintaining their operations if a peace agreement is reached.

In January 2026, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and France signed a declaration of intent concerning the potential deployment of multinational forces following a peace agreement.

The proposed mission would support Ukraine's defense capabilities, military training, and long-term security.
