A woman in France has described how her husband was left covered in blood after a mob attacked him in central Paris while he tried to help a friend.
Almudena Garcia recounted the assault to Fox News as unrest and demonstrations continue to affect cities across the country.
She said the confrontation escalated within seconds, with roughly 10 attackers turning on her husband before two waiters from a nearby restaurant pulled him inside.
Garcia spoke about the incident during an appearance on Fox News' America's Newsroom on Wednesday.
"It was like a horror movie. I've never experienced a fear like that before," she told Fox News.
According to Garcia, she and her husband were in central Paris and preparing to leave when they heard screaming.
They turned around and saw a friend being assaulted by several individuals, prompting her husband to intervene.
She said the initial group of four or five attackers quickly grew as more people joined in.
"There were five at the beginning and four or five more just arrived in two seconds, so I just saw my husband being beat up by 10 individuals," Garcia said.
Garcia said she panicked and called out for help because she feared for her husband's safety.
Two waiters from a nearby restaurant then stepped in and pulled him inside, she said.
Several attackers followed him into the establishment and continued the assault before staff managed to force them out.
Garcia said she entered the restaurant after the attackers were removed and saw her husband covered in blood.
"Thanks to the waiters, they could finally get them out ... and I got into the restaurant, and I just saw my husband all covered in blood ...
It was very, very scary," she said.
Unrest Across France
The assault occurred amid weeks of unrest across France, according to the source report.
Demonstrations initially focused on concerns about poor school conditions before expanding to include protests over rising living costs.
Some demonstrations have escalated into violence, with rioters attacking police, looting businesses and damaging public buildings.
Paris has remained a focal point, while videos circulated on social media over the weekend appeared to show groups of men damaging property in the capital and other major cities.
The Associated Press reported that street violence had subsided after French authorities imposed curfews in parts of Paris and other cities affected by the unrest.
Authorities were preparing for additional demonstrations on Saturday, October 24, according to the report published by Fox News on October 21, 2026.
