The Cincinnati Reds traded outfielder Rece Hinds to the Miami Marlins in exchange for right-handed pitcher Zach McCambley on Thursday, May 21, 2026, according to official team announcements.

Isaac Azout of Fish on First initially reported the minor transaction after the Reds recently designated the 25-year-old power hitter for assignment.

The trade allows Cincinnati to acquire an active player instead of losing Hinds without compensation, according to reports from Yahoo Sports.

McCambley, a 27-year-old reliever, has posted a 2.36 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP across 26.2 innings with 32 strikeouts in Triple-A this season, according to minor league tracking data.

The right-hander holds a 4.12 career minor league ERA alongside an 18-23 overall record since entering the system in 2021, according to statistics reported by Sports Illustrated.

Previously, the Philadelphia Phillies selected McCambley during the Rule 5 draft to compete for a roster spot, according to team officials.

“He’s really, really tough on right-handed hitters,” said Mike Ondo, Phillies director of professional scouting.

Ondo noted that McCambley possesses a starter background and bullpen versatility that allows him to log multiple innings or pitch short relief based on coaching staff needs.

Hinds appeared in 12 games for Cincinnati this season, recording four hits and one walk across 36 plate appearances, according to team records.

While Hinds struggled in the major leagues, he hit . 306 with a 1.058 OPS for the Triple-A Louisville Bats this season, according to Sports Illustrated.
