Ford is bringing the Bronco badge to Europe, and a senior executive insists the compact SUV will be more than just a style exercise.
Jim Baumbick, Ford of Europe boss, told Autonews Europe that the vehicle will live up to the Bronco name.

“We will be truly authentic to what Bronco is,” he said.
However, the European Bronco will be fundamentally different from its American counterpart.
Reports indicate it will ride on Ford's C2 architecture, shared with the Kuga (the European version of the Escape).
This means a unibody chassis, electrified four-cylinder powertrains, and road-focused dynamics. It will not feature the body-on-frame construction, locking differentials, or removable doors of the US Bronco.
Baumbick acknowledged the design challenges of blending Bronco's chunky styling with Europe's stricter efficiency standards. “The design constraints inspire innovation,” he said.

The Bronco is a key part of Ford's European reboot, which has seen familiar models like the Focus discontinued.
The company aims to focus on higher-margin “hero” vehicles with strong personalities.
Ford knows it cannot compete with Chinese brands like BYD on price alone, so it will emphasize heritage and emotional appeal.
Although the Bronco name is new to European buyers, Ford believes getting the visual and dynamic attitudes right will build recognition.
