Mboko overcame a slow start and a right pectoral muscle injury to defeat Romania's Jaqueline Cristian 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-2 in a match lasting 2 hours and 52 minutes.

The 19-year-old Canadian committed 28 of her 58 unforced errors in the opening set and fell behind 0-3 early before saving three set points to claim the first set in a tiebreaker.

Cristian built a 4-1 lead in the second set, during which Mboko took a medical timeout.

However, Mboko rebounded in the final set by winning 86 percent of her first-serve points and saving two early break points.

This victory marks the first time Mboko has reached a tour-level quarterfinal, semifinal, or final on clay.

She entered the tournament as a late wild card due to limited match play this spring.

Navarro booked her spot in the final by defeating fellow American Ann Li 6-1, 6-3.

She converted her dominance into a 6-1, 5-1 lead in under an hour as Li recorded 41 unforced errors and 20 winners.

Navarro saved seven of eight break points during the 1-hour and 17-minute match to reach her first tour-level final in over a year.

She entered the tournament after some time away from the tour due to health reasons and has now nearly doubled her total match wins for the season this week.

"I'm really happy," said Navarro regarding her performance. "I had a lot of fun playing out here today."

The upcoming championship match will be the first-time meeting between Mboko and Navarro.
