Former France international midfielder Josuha Guilavogui has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35.
The decision comes after he spent the entire 2025–2026 season as a free agent.

Guilavogui made over 400 European club appearances, recording 22 goals and 15 assists.
His career included spells at AS Saint-Étienne, Atlético Madrid, VfL Wolfsburg, Bordeaux, FSV Mainz 05, and Leeds United.
He also earned seven international caps for France.
Leeds United spell and retirement
The defensive midfielder joined Leeds United on a free transfer in October 2024 during an injury crisis.
He made 18 appearances across all competitions under manager Daniel Farke, helping the club win the Championship title.

In a heartfelt social media post, Guilavogui wrote: "Dear football. Asking for a lot but giving so much more.
You gave me the chance to fulfill my father's dream, which later became my own... I'm hanging up the boots.
The page turns but the book remains open."
Leeds United released a statement wishing him well, saying: "Everyone at Leeds United would like to send their best wishes to former player Josuha Guilavogui who has announced his retirement from professional football."
The club also shared a tribute on social media, congratulating him on a fantastic career.

Guilavogui developed through the academy at Saint-Étienne before moving to Atlético Madrid in 2013. He later captained Wolfsburg and played in a Champions League quarterfinal against Real Madrid.
