Bayless made the claim on social media platform X, stating that the WNBA franchise had dismissed White following a 16-point defeat to the Portland Fire on Saturday.
During the game, White was seen shouting at rookie Caitlin Clark during a timeout, apparently frustrated with defensive lapses.
The Fever's defense has struggled throughout the season.
However, the Indiana Fever administration did not terminate White over the incident. Journalists covering the team quickly refuted Bayless's report online.
Bayless later returned to his social media account to correct the error and retract the firing claim.
