England's teenage cricket talent Davina Perrin has been left out of the Women's T20 World Cup squad and will be sidelined for several weeks due to a hamstring injury.

The 19-year-old sustained the injury on May 6 while fielding for Warwickshire, shortly after the squad announcement.

Perrin was not included in the 15-player England squad despite scoring a 42-ball century in The Hundred last year.

National selectors opted for more experienced players following her low-scoring performances in South Africa, where she managed 37 runs across three intra-squad innings in March.

The batter revealed she received a brief text message just before the official squad announcement rather than a direct phone call.

"I didn't get a phone call, I got a message just as they were about to announce selection," Perrin told the Press Association.

"It was more just 'keep scoring runs', pretty short and sweet. It's part and parcel of the journey."

Perrin acknowledged her recent struggles, noting that her stint in Australia's Big Bash League during the winter did not yield the desired results.

"I had opportunities over the winter in the Big Bash but I didn't quite take those.

You want to be involved in (World Cups) but it was more of a glimmer of hope than anything," she said.

The Wolverhampton-born player expressed acceptance of the selection panel's decision, praising the strength of the chosen team and their bowling lineup.
