The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 in double overtime during Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.

Shea Theodore scored the game-winner at 5:38 of the second extra period, with his shot deflecting off the back wall and into the net.

Controversial Overturned Goals

The game featured two disallowed goals for Vegas following successful coach's challenges by Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour.

The first came 35 seconds into the second period when Mark Stone scored after a tip pass from Brett Howden.

The league ruled Howden offside, nullifying the goal.

Less than four minutes later, Jack Eichel appeared to break the tie, but Carolina challenged for goaltender interference.

The NHL determined Ivan Barbashev interfered with Frederik Andersen, disallowing the goal.

Vegas coach John Tortorella declined to challenge a game-tying goal by Carolina in the final two minutes of regulation, citing a previous unsuccessful challenge in Game 2.
