Hundreds of soccer fans gathered at Florida Atlantic University's stadium in Boca Raton on Thursday, June 11, 2026, to watch the Curaçao national team train before its historic first World Cup appearance this weekend.
The island nation, with a population of just over 150,000, is the smallest country to qualify for the tournament, having completed an undefeated run across 10 qualifying matches.

Goalkeeper Eloy Room expressed gratitude for the fan turnout during an interview with WPTV.
"Really joyful to see that so many people showed up today — it gives us energy. We're really excited to start the World Cup," he said.
Room emphasized the team's long journey to reach football's biggest stage. "We fought long for this moment to play in the World Cup.
Now we're here, we're going to show the world what we can do, and the first game is going to be a nice one," he added.
Midfielder Tahith Chong also shared his thoughts on the global attention the team is receiving. "I think it's amazing to see.
I don't think the people back home are going to believe the crowd we had here.
But just to see everyone, the whole world speak highly about Curaçao is obviously amazing," he said.

Supporters traveled from across South Florida with flags and jerseys to witness the practice session.
Local fan Bruce Zalman said, "I hope to go to some of the games down at the Hard Rock.
I'm just excited to be here, to be alive."
Some natives of the island traveled long distances, including Marionella Barzeycoggins, who brought her entire family from Port St. Lucie after securing reservations.
"I found out they're gonna be in Boca and they have a training event. And I'm like oh my God I have to RSVP so we are here.
I'm super excited about that and I'm able to bring my whole family," she said.

The Curaçao national team will travel next to Houston, Texas, to play its opening match against Germany this Sunday.
