Former Mexico international striker Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández has agreed to join USL Championship expansion franchise Atlético Dallas, becoming the club's first signing ahead of its inaugural 2027 season.
The 38-year-old forward will begin playing for the second-division American side in 2027, with home matches at the Cotton Bowl, but will immediately assist in team planning and project development, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Hernández became a free agent after his second stint with Chivas ended on December 11, 2025.
During that spell, he made 41 appearances, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
His final match was on November 30, 2025, where he missed a critical penalty against Cruz Azul in the Apertura 2025 quarterfinals.

New Chapter After Broadcasting Role
Following his departure from Guadalajara, Hernández worked as a broadcaster for FOX during the 2026 World Cup.
He later posted a video hinting at the final stage of his playing career and a potential tribute match from the Mexican Football Federation (FMF).
The FMF is preparing a possible joint recognition for Hernández, Mexico's all-time top scorer with 52 goals in 109 appearances, and Andrés Guardado, following similar honors for figures like Oribe Peralta and Manuel Negrete.

Atlético Dallas will be the eighth club of Hernández's professional career, following stints at Chivas, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham, Sevilla, and MLS side LA Galaxy.
