I don't think quite yet. Jon Jones, you guys know how I feel about that, so ...”

Gane's Evolution

Gane shared his reflections on his 10-year combat sports journey, detailing a shift in how he views the profession.

“This is a strange sport,” Gane said.

The French fighter contrasted MMA with traditional team sports.

“There is pressure in a game like basketball, yes, but not like this. We go in there trying to kill each other.

It's probably not a sport,” Gane said.

Gane recalled the public criticism before his previous matchup against Tom Aspinall last October.

“Before the Tom Aspinall fight: 'Oh, wow, Ciryl, you're gonna die,'” Gane said.

He noted that observers expected an immediate first-round stoppage.

“'Tom is going to kill you, Ciryl, in the first minute of the first round.' OK.

We will see,” Gane said.

Gane also discussed his decision to reduce his public profile after a quick submission loss to Jon Jones at UFC 285 in March 2023.

“I cut out everything after that,” Gane said.

He used privacy and social media isolation as a recovery mechanism.

“That was a little bit of my therapy after Jones. I went very low-key.

'Leave me alone. Talk about the other fighters, please.

Forget me forever,'” Gane said.

Head coach Fernand Lopez highlighted the evolution of Gane's mindset since his promotional debut in 2019.

“He used to be the kid who thought you just train hard, play and enjoy your life -- because a happy fighter is a dangerous fighter, right?
