The 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport arrives with a re-engineered suspension and a 1.38-inch (35 mm) lift, pushing ground clearance to 9.65 inches (245 mm).
Honda says the updated model is "the most off-road-capable SUV Honda has ever built," offering a "class-leading" mix of off-road ability and on-road handling.
TrailSport variants account for over 80% of Passport sales, which explains why Honda focused its latest updates on the off-road trim.
Suspension and Capability Upgrades
While the naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 with 285 hp (213 kW / 289 PS) carries over, Honda redesigned 70% of major suspension components.
That includes springs, dampers, control arms, stabilizer bars, knuckles, front driveshafts, and the front subframe.
The lift improves off-road angles: approach and departure angles are now 25° (+2°), and the breakover angle is 23° (+3°).
Honda claims the Passport TrailSport's ground clearance beats rugged rivals including the Toyota 4Runner TRD, Subaru Outback Wilderness, and Ford Bronco Sport Badlands Sasquatch.
The redesigned suspension also promises better articulation and ride quality off the beaten track, along with improved steering feel and response.
Visually, changes include amber LED hood lights, wider fender extensions, and a slightly more sculpted front skid plate.
A new Smoke Blue Pearl shade replaces Obsidian Blue Pearl, and the Blackout Package gains more black garnish on the skid plates.
Inside, the heated steering wheel and TrailWatch camera system—offering four ground views—are now standard across the TrailSport lineup.
The 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport will reach dealerships later this month, with pricing to be announced closer to that date.
The Passport TrailSport Elite will also be exported to Japan starting in early 2027.
The SUV was designed in California, developed in Ohio, and is exclusively manufactured in Alabama, with its engine produced in Lincoln.
