Galloper Iberica is bringing the Galloper name back to Spain with two new models: the Ayanet pickup and the Gredos SUV.
Both are based on Chinese-built Nissans but swap the original powertrains for Mitsubishi turbocharged gasoline engines.
The launch is set for October in Spain, with pricing starting at €26,000 ($30,300) for the Ayanet and €39,000 ($45,400) for the Gredos.
A revival rooted in badge-swapping heritage
The original Galloper was a Spanish importer that sold a Mitsubishi-based off-roader in the 1990s.
That vehicle was the Hyundai Galloper, a rebadged Mitsubishi Montero/Pajero built in Korea.
It was imported by Galloper España and distributed through Mitsubishi dealers with Mitsubishi emblems.
Now, Galloper Iberica is continuing that tradition by rebadging Nissans instead.
The Ayanet is essentially a Nissan Navara D23, while the Gredos is the pre-facelift Nissan Terra SUV.
Exterior changes are minimal: Galloper lettering on the nose and tailgate, plus a new emblem with three horizontal lines.
Inside, both models feature modern cabins with large infotainment displays shared with the Dongfeng/Oting Paladin.
Under the hood, a Mitsubishi-sourced 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine produces 218 hp and 360 Nm of torque.
Power goes to all four wheels through a ZF eight-speed automatic and a BorgWarner 4WD system with low-range and a locking rear differential.
Galloper Iberica says the engine meets Euro 6 standards and plans mild-hybrid and LPG options for Euro 7.
The ladder-frame models are manufactured by China's Anhui Coronet and licensed by Zhengzhou Nissan, the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture.
The company is considering moving assembly to Spain in the future.
After the Spanish launch in October, a broader rollout across other European markets is planned.
Galloper Iberica aims to have a network of 60 dealers by the end of the year.
